Challenges
The education system in Thailand faces many complex and interrelated challenges, including the socio-economic status of students, the public’s understanding of educational inequity, the effectiveness of education management and policies, and the lack of community engagement in children’s education. The result of this is that many Thai children lack access to the education they need to reach their full potential and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
"A considerable number of Thai children have lower skills than the country average of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member countries in all subjects (from PISA 2018)."
"In 2021, there were approximately 1.9 million children living in poverty and extreme poverty in Thailand. This represents a significant portion of the total population of compulsory school-age children, which is estimated to be around 9 million."
56% of elementary classrooms have an average of less than one teacher per classroom. This places a heavy burden on individual teachers, who must shoulder the responsibility of teaching multiple subjects in a single classroom.
"Students' performance from standardized test is accounted for only 10 percent, or only 3.3 percent of the total score, in the evalution for teacher's promotion or increase of their academic standing renumeration."
Why You Should Teach For Thailand?
Our Principles
Addressing the challenges in Thailand’s education system cannot be sustainably achieved by a single individual. It requires the involvement and support of a network of leaders from various sectors, including educational policy developers, social enterprise entrepreneurs, teachers, and school principals. These stakeholders share experiences of real problems and have a common goal of promoting equitable education. With these cooperations, we can help children in Thailand determine a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Imagine how far Thailand can advance in this scenario.

What is the Fellowship Program?
The Fellowship Program aims to foster leaders by placing them in a highly challenging environment: teaching full-time for two years in high-need schools.
Develop work and leadership skills over the duration of the program.
Fellow = Teacher
The role of a teacher is central to both education and society. Teaching is a profession that cultivates leadership, as an effective teacher or leader must truly understand problems and needs, have the ability to ‘reach’ those who play a role in change, and be an advocate for the maximum benefit of students’ better future.
Empower and inspire students to learn by being a teacher. Through creative and innovative ideas, unleash both their potential and yours.
Learn and collaborate with school personnel, including teachers and administrators, to gain insights into the challenges and find effective ways to create a high-quality classroom environment
The sustainable development of education cannot solely happen within schools, as it also requires the engagement of local community members, including parents and others in the community, to work collaboratively to foster the development of students.
What you will gain from the Program?
Two years of real-life, hands-on experience as a Fellow. It will be your first step towards solving real-world problems, as well as becoming part of a network of educational and social leaders who are all dedicated to the development of Thai children.
